GET WISE

Get WISE is Ireland’s first land-based water safety programme specifically designed for Physical Education teachers in Junior Cycle P.E.

Using fundamental movements students are given the opportunity to explore non-contact rescue techniques, self-rescue skills and engage with simulated rescue scenarios.

The programme was developed in collaboration with Oide, a support service for teachers and school leaders, alongside the Department of Education.

Get WISE aligns with the Junior Cycle P.E Curriculum Strand 2: Participation, Learning Outcome 2.9: Demonstrate an understanding of personal survival and water safety considerations.

The Get WISE programme aims to equip students with the knowledge they need to make the right decisions in all sorts of situations to keep themselves, and others, safe on, or near, water.

You do not have to be water confident, to be water safe.
