Design and produce Water Safety Awareness Campaign

Think of all the things you’ve learned about water safety. Your challenge is to pick a specific water safety issue related to your environment or locality. Then create a water safety campaign to raise awareness locally of potential dangers associated with it.

The output can be video, audio, poster based or a combination of media. We want to see how you can put the knowledge you’ve gained into practice to help protect others.

Here are a few things to consider:

  • What is the bottom line in relation the issue/environment you’ve chosen?

  • Apply the insights gained during your lessons to the local issue/hazard.

  • Gain further expertise by finding additional information and resources online.

  • Prepare key messages that can be shared with local community.

  • What is your advice in relation to the topic?

  • What do the experts say?

  • What does everyone in the community need to know in relation the topic?

  • What advice would you give to people your own age/older or younger?

Create poster campAigns that pop!

When it comes to water safety, keep your messaging simple. Don’t try and communicate too many messages at one time. Be single minded in your approach.

Ask yourself ‘what’s the one thing I can say that will have the most impact?’

For video ask yourself what will have the most impact - dramatising the issue or sticking to the facts

Please include video as part of your project response. At Water Safety Ireland, we’re always looking for great ways of communicating water safety issues. So make sure to tag us and share any links when applying for your certificate. We plan to showcase the best ideas throughout the year.

When your project is complete

Firstly, show your teacher and ask them to share the certification access code so all members of your team can apply for and receive individually personalised WISE completion certificates. Just click on - Certify - Students. Then enter your access code and follow the instructions.

Next, please share your project work on social channels (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook,…) and tag #watersafetyireland #teachwise

We’re always on the look out for great ideas that help raise awareness about water safety. We’ll be showcasing the best project work throughout the year.
